Groupe Nordik to open CA$50m nature spa in Alberta
Groupe Nordik will be constructing their fourth nature spa in Canada on land in Parkland County, in proximity to Edmonton and the surrounding municipalities.
Groupe Nordik plans to develop 10 spas across North America by 2027. The objective is to push the industry to new heights, by offering traditional and original relaxation and rejuvenation experiences, and to make the company an international leader in wellness spas.
‘’After, Quebec, Manitoba, and Ontario, we are now ready to settle in the western regions of Canada,” sais Daniel Gingras, owner and senior VP of strategy and corporate development for Grupo Nordik. “A development in Edmonton is currently ongoing, and another in Calgary is soon to be announced. We are always on the lookout for opportunities elsewhere in Canada, and internationally soon.’’
Construction will begin in June 2019 on the company’s Whitby, Ontario project, a new relaxation centre set over an area of 385,423sq ft and located 45 minutes from downtown Toronto. With a capacity of 700 guests, the spa defines itself as a multisensory relaxation experience in a soothing natural environment. It is set to open in 2020.
Nordik Spa-Nature’s facilities propose several ways to enjoy the thermal cycle in every season. Different sections allow guests to choose their preferred environment to maximise the benefits of their spa visit. Guests are invited to relax and disconnect in a silent zone or to chat and reconnect with friends in another more communal area.
Massages, body treatments and sauna rituals are also offered, and the spas include Bistro, Lounge or Biergarten restaurants.
The new Parkland County spa is expected to create more than 450 jobs. The owners, Martin Paquette and Daniel Gingras, collaborate with representatives of Parkland County to ensure the project adheres to the community and the county by-laws and regulations. Construction could begin in 2021.
This CA$50m project is a major investment for the region. ‘’Parkland offers a very exciting and inspiring environment for me and my design team,” said Martin Paquette, owner and CEO of Grupo Nordik. “We are currently in the process of planning. Our vision for this thermal spa will be incredibly distinctive and exceptional for Canada. This spa will draw its inspiration from the roots of wellness traditions from all cultures, adapted by, and for Canadians.’’
