World Interior of the Year 2017: See who is in contention for the prestigious prize
The INSIDE World Festival of Interiors has announced a shortlist of 78 projects that are in the running to be named World Interior of the Year 2017.
Projects from across the world have been submitted across nine categories, including civic spaces, bars and restaurants, shops, hotels and health and education.
The winners in each category – chosen by international judging panels – and an ultimate overall winner, will be revealed between 15-17 November at the Arena in Berlin, where the event is taking place alongside its sister, the World Architecture Festival, which also hosts a prestigious design competition.
"Entry numbers exceeded 200 for the first time, and the increase in numbers was accompanied by an increase in overall quality,” said Paul Finch, programme director of INSIDE World Festival of Interiors.
“Many of the shortlisted designs concern the way that interiors help us to live, work and play more efficiently and more enjoyably. This is appropriate in a year when our conference theme is ‘Performance’, which will examine how elements like colour, acoustics and volume contribute to the success of new and refurbished interior projects.
“All the shortlisted designs will be presented live, so Festival delegates will enjoy a series of mini-performances by designers, as well as conference speakers.”
WOW Architects, Zaha Hadid Architects and Studio Ardete are among the high-profile studios competing for honours. Images of each entry can be viewed on the festival’s website.
