Porto Architects concept wine store is "blindingly white, minimal and circular"

Porto Architects have created a concept store for a vineyard in Porto, Portugal, that they describe as "blindingly white, minimal and circular."

The 90sq m (970sq ft) retail space has been designed to celebrate the wine bottle, with a simple open-plan form that provides a 360-degree view for visitors and a neutral background colour to showcase products.

Shelves around the walls of the store have been sculpted to reference vineyard terraces and provide flexibility for organising products by theme, market trends, season and so on.

An unobtrusive counter with tablets in the centre of the space provides additional information about the vineyard, while a simple tasting zone comprises two wooden barrels and some chairs – also all in white.

Ricardo Porto Ferreira, director of Porto Architects, said: "The visitor's experience begins with the perception of the curved walls and circular path that surrounds one soon after entering the interior.

"The approach was to focus on creating a space that could emerge from the access points and develop a feel of inner space defined by the three wine terraces that exhibit one of the most extended collections of Portuguese wine."
