Work has started on the development of a new 18-hole golf course at the US$300 (£185m, EUR215m) Kittitian Hill Resort in St Kitts.
The new par-72 course has been designed by European Golf Design (EGD) in association with US Masters winner and 2006 Ryder Cup captain Ian Woosnam. A range of social and environmental issues have been addressed in the design of the 6,825-yard venue, which is due for completion in autumn 2012.
EGD designer Gary Johnston said: "The views from the site are quite amazing, with sea views on every hole the course promises to be an exciting and beautiful development that blends harmoniously with the environment." Terra Forma Developments are behind the 400-acre (162-hectare) Kittitian Hill Resort plans, the first phase of which is slated for completion in late 2012.
A destination spa offering indigenous treatments and is set to form the second phase of the scheme and will be operated by Sedona Resorts.
