Radisson Collection launches inaugural hotel in Georgia’s 8000-year-old wine district
The Radisson Collection Hotel, Tsinandali Estate has opened its doors in Kakheti, Georgia – a region that pioneered the cultivation of wine-producing grapes over 8000 years ago.
Set on an 18-hectare, hilly expanse near the Palace Museum of Prince Alexander Chavchavadze – the aristocratic father of the Georgian Romanticism literary moment – the 141-room resort comprises a number of cavernous and brightly painted spaces reminiscent of Romanesque interiors, as well as a vineyard and winery.
Its on-site spa, which features a fitness room, sauna, jacuzzi, and infinity pool, also provides unobstructed views of the Caucasus Mountains.
The property's additional facilities include a 1,200-seat amphitheatre designed by French architecture firm Fabre/Speller, three bars, and three dining outlets – Prince Alexander, Le Bistro, and Kakheti Restaurant.
The project, which was developed by the Silk Road Group, also involved an international team of architects and interior designers, including John Fotiadis, Christian Gabas, Damien Figueras, Ingo Maurer, and Tamara Kvesitadze.
Speaking on the development, Michel Stalport, area senior vice president for Russia and Eastern Europe, said: "We are extremely proud to welcome guests to our first Radisson Collection estate in this stunning region.
"The estate combines magnificent architecture and historical authenticity with the finest new design details to provide guests with truly exceptional and memorable stays."
The retreat, which has been in the works since 2012 – is the Radisson Collection's first property to debut in Georgia.
The luxury brand, a division of Radisson Hotel Group, currently operates nine properties globally.
