A contract has been awarded for the design, build and financing of a new high-performance complex in Toronto, Canada, to be used at the Toronto 2015 Pan/Parapan American Games.
PCL Aquatics Centre 2012 - incorporating PCL Construction, NORR and Counsilman-Hunsaker - has been appointed by Infrastructure Ontario to lead the project following a procurement process.
The complex will house the Aquatics Centre and Field House, as well as the Canadian Sport Institute Ontario (CSIO). It is scheduled for completion in mid-2014.
Two international-standard 10-lane, 50m pools will be housed in the Aquatics Centre, as well as a 5m deep diving tank with 5m, 7.5m and 10m platforms and dry diving facilities.
Flexible gymnasium space for training and competition and an indoor recreational track and fitness area with cardio and weightlifting facilities will form part of the Field House.
The venue will be built on land owned by the City of Toronto and the University of Toronto Scarborough Campus. It will be joint-owned by the city and the university.
A spokesperson said: "The entire project budget includes the final design, build and finance contract between Infrastructure Ontario and PCL Aquatics Centre 2012, as well as transaction fees and other ancillary costs that are currently being finalised."
