Mississippi museum to open in November

The Ohr-O'Keefe Museum of Art in Biloxi, Mississippi, is to open on 6 November.
Construction of the the Frank Gehry-designed museum began in 2003 at a cost of US$15m (£9.6m, 11.5m euro), but unfortunately Hurricane Katrina struck in August 2005, when the museum was 11 months from opening.
The price of completing the museum has now risen to US$36m (£23m, 27m euro), with work beginning again in July 2008.
The 25,000sq ft Ohr-O'Keefe Museum campus will provide facilities for art exhibitions and education, as well as cultural and community events.
It is comprised of several pavilions, including the Welcome Center, the Exhibition Gallery, the Gallery of African American Art, the George E. Ohr Gallery and the Center for Ceramics. The latter two pavilions will not be ready for the November opening.
In addition, two historic buildings are located on the campus: The Pleasant Reed House was destroyed in Katrina and has been replaced by the Pleasant Reed Interpretive Center (which opened in September 2008) and The Creel House, which was damaged by Katrina and moved to its current site for renovation. It opened as Ohr-O'Keefe Museum of Art Neighborhood Center and temporary administrative offices in November 2009.
