Floating hotel and bar opens on River Seine in Paris

We’re turning roads into beaches, we’re turning industrial docklands into fashionable districts and we’re living on the water
– Citysurfing

Citysurfing, a company that makes eco-friendly floating structures, has partnered with the Elegancia Hotel Group to create a hotel and bar located on the River Seine in Paris.

Moored at the foot of the Austerlitz railway station, the OFF hotel and bar features 54 rooms, four suites, a bar, a plunge pool and a marina on a floating structure.

The hotel is built using architectural floating technology developed by Citysurfing founder Christophe Gallineau and architect Gérard Ronzatti, whose firm Seine Design specialise in marine engineering.

In a statement, they said: “Cities have turned their backs on their waterways and rivers for half a century. The quays have become industrial areas, or riverside transit roads. The waterways are used for transporting goods. Now they’re taking control of them again as natural resources to be highlighted and protected.

“We’re turning roads into beaches, we’re turning industrial docklands into fashionable districts and we’re living on the water again via tourism or bathing. More and more projects are emerging to make our rivers areas for life and leisure.”
