Damien Hirst crafts eclectic, art-stocked "Empathy Suite" in Las Vegas
Mixed media artist Damien Hirst has completed work on the "Empathy Suite" – a kaleidoscopic penthouse in the newly renovated Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas.
Furnished with a diverse assortment of Hirst's sculptures and paintings – including a vitrine of sharks immersed in formaldehyde – the two-bedroom apartment, which provides panoramic cityscape views, also comprises a salt relaxation room, a jacuzzi, massage tables, a bar, a fitness studio, and two media lounges.
The 9,000 sq ft (836 sq m) retreat is reportedly the world's most costly hotel room; guests can book a two-night stay for a whopping US$200,000 (€176,540, £152,389).
The Empathy Suite was created as part of the casino's US$690m refurbishment project, a scheme that so far has seen the hotel complex expand to include new restaurants, nightclubs, guest rooms, and leisure facilities.
Other design practices who have lent their expertise to the development include Avenue Interior Design and Bentel and Bentel.
