Chelsea FC unveils new museum

Chelsea Football Club (CFC) has opened a new 670sq m (7,212sq ft) museum at the club's Stamford Bridge stadium in London, which has been designed by Mather and Co.

The purpose-built space located behind the Matthew Harding Stand explores more than 100 years of the Premier League club's history and houses a number of interactive exhibits. Attractions include the adidas Shooting Gallery, which will see guests receive a video tutorial from a CFC Academy coach before shooting a ball at a number of targets.

Wear it with Pride features a revolving exhibit of iconic CFC shirts, while the Greatest Games attraction has been compiled by supporters' votes and offers highlights of iconic matches. Gemma Smith, Mather and Co's lead designer on the project, said: "As with any museum project, it's about working closely with the client team to establish key exhibit themes and content.

"The creativity of our design and execution and the use of state-of-the-art technology then brings these ideas to life and we've been able to build a really fascinating story showing that it isn't just about the trophies that you win but the culture of the football club."
