Campaign lodges harbour scheme complaint
A campaign group has submitted a formal complaint to Cornwall Council over claims the authority had "misled" local residents over the proposed redevelopment of Penzance Harbour.
According to the Friends of Penzance Harbour (FPH), parts of the multi-million pound plans to develop a ferry and freight terminal would not be subject to the full planning process as a result of the Penzance Harbour Revision Order. In a statement, a spokesperson for FPH said: "Cornwall Council is now seeking to rely on the Penzance Harbour Revision Order for authority to go ahead with the scheme
"If it succeeds, it will have circumvented the normal provisions of the planning process, with their built-in safeguards for local residents, and therein lies the injustice of which the Friends of Penzance Harbour is complaining." The redevelopment of Penzance Harbour forms part of plans to improve the sea link between Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
