Architecture industry survey reveals growing optimism

The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) has released its monthly member survey for February regarding the health of the profession and the larger construction industry.
The survey revealed confidence in future growth prospects for the profession has grown for the third consecutive month, with practices employing more than 51 employees the most optimistic about future workloads.
Confidence in the commercial, public and community sector was up compared with January figures, but confidence in the private housing sector was down.
The survey revealed optimism in the staffing index for the first time since the survey was developed in 2009.
Practices located in London and the north of England are currently the most likely to take on staff.
RIBA director of practice Adrian Dobson said: "Practices remain very cautious in general about taking on additional permanent staff, but this first ever positive return must be welcomed."
