$1.9 billion Allegiant Stadium approaches completion in Las Vegas

– David Manica
Two major construction milestones have been passed at Manica's $1.9 billion (€1.8 billion, £1.5 billion) Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, with the frame for supporting the roof lifted into place and installation of the seating begun.
Practical completion of the stadium is expected by the end of July, after which it will be home to the relocated Raiders NFL team.
In addition to NFL games, it will host NCAA football, other collegiate events, concerts, family shows and community and charity events.
The 1,750,000sq ft (162,580sq m) facility will have a seating capacity of 65,000, which it will be possible to increase to 72,000 for Super Bowl events, as well as 18 suites, 64 loge box seats, 48 ledge table seats and 338 club seats.
A retractable pitch surface will help to cater for the non-sports events that the stadium will host and protect the playing surface from potential damage.
A transparent ETFE roof, meanwhile, will provide an outdoor feel to the stadium, but a controllable indoor climate.
The sense of connection to the outside will be strengthened by way of a large operable wall opening that will provide views of the nearby Las Vegas Strip.
Outside, there will be parking for 8,000 cars, tailgating amenities and a mixed-use commercial development.
David Manica, president and owner of Manica, said: "It's the Maserati of stadiums; sleek and fast, yet spacious, comfortable, and sophisticated; luxurious and well appointed, but still accessible enough to enjoy driving every day."
