Council planners back Gloucestershire County Cricket Club scheme

Gloucestershire County Cricket Club's (GCCC) plans for the redevelopment of the County Ground in Bristol have been recommended for approval by local planning officers.
Bristol City Council's (BCC) development control (north) committee will decide the fate of the Arturus-designed scheme on 30 May, having rejected initial proposals earlier this year.
GCCC is working in conjunction with Linden Homes on the development, which comprises the demolition of the Mound and Jessop stands and the provision of 7,500 permanent seats.
A new-look pavilion containing a media centre is also proposed as part of the scheme, along with residential apartments and a number of measures to generate renewable energy.
GCCC chief executive Tom Richardson said: "The ambition of the club is always to be a good neighbour and to make the development of both the apartments and the ground as successful as possible."
