Marcello Pozzi designs 27-storey hotel in New York's Fashion District

by Andrew Manns | 29 Apr 2019

Hotel Hendricks, a 27-storey urban retreat taking shape a stone's throw from Fifth Avenue in New York, is on track to open its doors in June.

Designed by Los Angeles-based interior specialist Marcello Pozzi, the destination will feature 176 guestrooms, a rooftop lounge and bar, a cafe, and a fitness suite.

Fittings at Hendricks – all of which will give the property's common and private areas a 'boutique' and industrial feel – will be composed of a variety of materials, such as bronze, malachite, polished copper, and exposed concrete.

Developed by Fortuna Realty Group, who secured a US$40m (€35.8m, £31m) loan to build the project last year, the Midtown getaway will be managed by international hospitality group, Preferred Hotels.

"We are thrilled to introduce Hotel Hendricks as we continue to become synonymous with accessible luxury in New York City," said Morris Moinian, Chairman of Fortuna Realty Group.

He added: "The success of our existing hotels will be further solidified as we unveil this trendy sanctuary amongst the hustle and bustle of Midtown."

Other hospitality venues in Fortuna's portfolio include the Hotel Henri and Hotel Hayden, both in Chelsea, the Garden City Hotel on Long Island, Mr. C in Miami, and Sugar Bay in the US Virgin Islands.
