New leisure centre unveiled in London
Lambeth Council has announced the launch of a new leisure centre in south London, which forms part of a wider GBP80m regeneration scheme being carried out in Clapham.
The complex has been designed by LA Architects and has been developed through a public-private partnership with the Cathedral Group and United House at no cost to the council.
Located on Clapham Manor Street, the centre includes a six-lane, 25m swimming pool with moveable floor; a 100-station gym; a four-court sports hall; and a dance and fitness studio.
The wider regeneration project comprises a new library, medical centre and cafe, which will be located on Clapham High Street. New residential units are also part of the scheme.
A council spokesperson said: "The high-quality facilities which will be run from the new highly-sustainable building have come at no cost to the public purse."
