Huge waterpark proposed for Gaylord Opryland mega-hotel
Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center, one of the largest hotels in the world with almost 3,000 rooms, is set to reveal plans for a outdoor and indoor waterpark complex.
Owner and real-estate developer Ryman Hospitality Properties (formerly Gaylord Entertainments) has had plans drawn up for the attraction, which be built beside the Gaylord Opryland in Nashville, Tennessee.
The covered part of the waterpark would be a three-storey facility, while the landscaped external area is expected to be vast, surrounded by sun decks and cabanas. Attractions include a variety of speed and tube slides, a lazy river, wave pool, Flow Rider, kids’ and adults’ pools and aquaplay structures.
It is understood that the project will be officially unveiled at a press conference on the 25 January.
In 2012, Gaylord Entertainments had plans for a US$50m (€47m, £40.6m) snow and waterpark in Nashville, in partnership with singer and theme park owner Dolly Parton. It was going to be located adjacent to the Opryland Resort, but the project was canned.
