Waldorf pipeline shows continued growth through to 2020
Waldorf has continued ongoing expansion plans with the opening of one new hotel and the announcement of another.
The most notable project has seen designs for the long-anticipated Beverly Hills Waldorf Astoria revealed.
Arriving in 2017, the 12-storey Waldorf Astoria will be one of Hilton’s flagship Waldorf hotels, according to Hilton Worldwide chief executive Christopher Nassetta.
The hotel will cost more than US$200m (£119.6m, €144.9m) and will be developed by Alagem Capital Group as part of a US$500m (£299m, €362m) mixed-use site that will also eventually include two residential towers.
Although the spa details have not yet been revealed, the new hotel will include a rooftop swimming pool, cabanas, bar and restaurant plus ballroom facilities for as many as 200 people.
The Waldorf Astoria in Jerusalem opened earlier this month on the site of the former Palace Hotel. Situated at the intersection of King David, Agron and Mamila Streets, Waldorf Astoria Jerusalem features 220 bedrooms.
The building that houses the hotel was built in 1929 and has undergone an extensive renovation with the historic facade restored, as well as a complete rebuilding of the interior.
Facilities include a 5,380sq ft (500sq m) spa and a fitness facility with pool, three restaurants and conference and meeting facilities.
Treatments on offer when the spa opens in 2015 include Swedish massage, deep tissue massage, therapeutic massage and reflexology.
Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam is also soon expected to open with the hotel recently announcing a partnership with French beauty brand Guerlain to offer a new luxury spa.
Other Waldorf projects currently in the pipeline for Hilton include locations such as Doha (2016), Bangkok (2016), Chengdu (2016), Bali (2017), Jakarta
(2017), Hainan Baoting (2018), Sanya (2019), Crete Sitia Bay (2020) and Montréal (2020).
