Velas Group unveils plans for seventh Mexican spa resort in Los Cabos
A brand new spa is due to open at the Grand Velas Boutique in Los Cabos, Mexico, inspired by the ocean and traditions of the region.
Opening in late 2023, the up-scale adults-only inclusive property will feature 79 guestrooms and mark the Velas Group’s seventh destination in Mexico.
The resort’s wellness offering will consist of a spa and fitness centre conceptualised by wellness consulting firm Mestre & Mestre in coordination with Ricardo Elias Architectural Firm.
Under the direction of experienced spa manager Natividad Ru, the vision for the 750sq m spa is to introduce guests to ancestral local healing therapies as well as modern pro-ageing and mental wellness technologies. The Grand Velas Boutique spa will feature a selection of ocean-view treatment suites including a VIP suite with a private jacuzzi, two individual suites and one couples suite.
A hydrotherapy contrast bathing experience will form a core part of the customer journey. This will include an emotional water tunnel, an Aurora Borealis Ice Room, a sauna with a halotherapy diffuser, a herbal steamroom, a clover-shaped magnesium experience pool and a whirlpool overlooking the gardens.
Outdoors, guests will have access to a Wim Hof cryotherapy deck with an ice tub, infrared loungers and a relaxation room called the CUBE. Here, guests will enjoy 30-minute biohacking experiences such as VR headset journeys, Pandora Star Light therapy, Schumann resonance mats and vibroacoustic vests.
Mestre & Mestre is looking to create a varied spa menu spanning wellness therapies both old and new, ranging from cryotherapy facials and infrared light therapy to vibroacoustic facials with tuning forks.
Wellness provisions will also cover fitness through a 204sq m Gymnasium complete with Technogym equipment, a yoga studio and In Body testing.
The hotel will be helmed by GM Andreas Schmidt and offer all-inclusive amenities including a selection of gourmet restaurants, meeting facilities and a commitment to the environment.
