Six Senses Spas to open at The Belvedere Hotel in Mykonos in July
Six Senses Spas is set to open its second spa in Greece in early July at the Belvedere Hotel on a hill overlooking Mykonos Town and the Aegean Sea.
The three-treatment-room spa – which includes a couples’ suite – will have an open plan reception area with a vaulted ceiling and a handcrafted retail display. Steam showers and day beds are located in the spa, as well as separate manicure and pedicure areas – with seating built into the floor and wall.
Inspired by Myconian architecture, features of the spa include whitewashed walls and marble floors sourced from the neighbouring island of Naxos. Wooden shelving created by a local artisan provides contrast, alongside natural fabrics in blue and soft lighting from frosted glass skylights.
Products for treatments will be by The Organic Pharmacy, however different indigenous ingredients will also be used. For example, cinnamon leaf, bark oils and honey will be combined with sand from the Adriatic Sea to provide an anti-inflammatory treatment. Aniseed, sesame and olive oils are used in a body cleansing therapy and pomegranate, sea salt and fig are used in a wrap treatment.
“In all our treatments, the hotel and local guests will find an intuitive mix of science and human awareness, where our high-tech and high-touch approach defines a service that is always crafted around the individual,” said Anna Bjurstam, VP of spa and wellness for Six Senses Spas.
The Belvedere Hotel is a member of the Small Luxury Hotels collection and it offers a number of award-winning culinary experiences – including the newly-opened Matsuhisa Mykonos, a Japanese restaurant by Chef Nobu Matsuhisa.
In other news, Chef Nobu Matsuhisa is also developing a new hotel in Manila with business partners including actor Robert De Niro and Hollywood producer Meir Teper.
