Pulse kits out £6m youth facility
Pulse Fitness - the dedicated equipment arm of the Pulse Group - has supplied and installed fitness gear at a new £6million (US$7.5m, €6.9m) youth facility in the Wirral called ‘The Hive’.
The centre has 26 stations with Series 2 cardiovascular equipment and pieces from Pulse's strength line. Equipment is inclusive fitness accredited so all members can take part. The centre also boasts a climbing wall, boxing ring, dance studio, skate park, and offers employability and mentoring programmes.
The Wirral Youth Zone, also known as ‘The Hive’, is a purpose-built centre for people aged eight to 19, and up to 25 for those with disabilities.
Youth zones offer activities and services to help raise the aspirations, improve the health and wellbeing, and enhance the prospects of young people. This is the seventh youth zone in the UK, with centres planned to open in Chorley, Preston, Barking, Croydon, and Barnet over the next two years.
Pulse has been working with national charity OnSide Youth Zones for seven years.
“We were delighted to work with OnSide Youth Zones again on this fantastic Youth Zone development,” said Chris Johnson, Pulse Group managing director. “We have worked closely with the team to create a modern gym with the most up-to-date equipment that will offer youngsters the opportunity to get active and have fun with their peers.”
Adam Poyner, senior development surveyor at OnSide, said: “Pulse have been a reliable partner in the development of our existing Youth Zone Network, so we immediately turned to them when kitting out our newest facility, ‘The Hive’.
“Pulse’s products are exciting and innovative and with their years of market experience and excellent customer support, they were the perfect choice to ensure that we are providing our members with the best quality equipment available. ‘The Hive’ will be a fully-kitted out facility offering youngsters the opportunity to occupy their minds and bodies with fun activities, learn new skills and socialise in a safe, positive way.”
The facility will be open seven days a week, and young people from across the Wirral will pay an annual membership fee of £5 and 50p per visit.
The centre is scheduled to open its doors on Saturday 8 April.
