Thermae Bath Spa’s marketing chief given outstanding contribution award
Peter Rollins, director of marketing and communications at the Thermae Bath Spa has been handed the Outstanding Contribution Award at this year’s Bath Business Awards.
Rollins, who heads up the marketing departments of the Thermae Bath Spa and the five-star Gainsborough Hotel in the city, has been credited with “putting Bath on the tourist map” by raising the profile of the city’s spa heritage.
“It has been immensely satisfying to be part of a team that re-opened the historic Spa, which has been at the heart of Bath for hundreds of years.” Rollins said.
“For me, it has been a privilege to live and work in this beautiful city so it was quite humbling to be recognised in this way.
“It is also exciting to know that there are so many opportunities for the spa industry to grow and I look forward to contributing to that success in the future.”
Rollins has been at Thermae since its opening in 2006 and said the reopening of the wellness hub has transformed the city.
Thermae Bath Spa is the only day spa in the UK which has access to natural thermal waters.
Currently operated by YTL Hotels, the reopening of the spa was funded by Bath & North East Somerset Council, the Millennium Commission, Thermae Development Company, the Bath Spa Trust, the EU Regional Development Fund and local subscribers.
Earlier this year, the spa opened a new wellness suite which features two new Roman and Georgian-themed aromatic steamrooms, a contemporary infrared sauna, an ice chamber, a new celestial relaxation room and chromotherapy showers.
