Mission Hills joins forces with Marriott to open two hotels in China

by Aoife Dowling | 31 Oct 2012

Chinese hospitlity giant Mission Hills Group has signed an agreement with Marriott International to open two hotels - The Ritz-Carlton and Renaissance Hotels - at its Mission Hills Haikou resort in Hainan, China.

Located in the volcanic region of Hainan Island, the RMB$1.3bn (US$208m, £129m, 161m euro) investment will see the two hotels open in the second quarter of 2015.

The Ritz-Carlton will have 180 rooms with 20 villas and will be designed by AECOM. The interior design will be carried out by HBA.

The Renaissance will have 300 rooms styled in a modern fashion and will be surrounded by green space to create a natural harmony.

The hotels will form part of Mission Hills' Haikou development which houses 22 golf courses, luxury resorts, spas, retail units and an ice rink.

It will be the first golf hotel operated by Marriott International in the Greater China region.

Ken Chu, CEO of Mission Hills Group, said: "Our partnership will yield both economic and cultural benefits to the local tourism industry, while offering guests the ultimate golf and holiday experience."
