IHG bringing Crowne Plaza to Vietnam’s Phu Quoc Island in 2017
International Hotel Group (IHG) is bringing a 300-bedroom Crowne Plaza hotel to Phu Quoc Island in Vietnam.
Scheduled to open in 2017, the Crowne Plaza Phu Quoc Starbay will include a spa, and will join IHG’s other two Crowne Plazas in the country, the Crowne Plaza West Hanoi and the Crowne Plaza Da Nang. The company signed a management agreement with real estate developer M.I.K Corporation earlier this month for the forthcoming hotel
While details of the spa are not yet available, the property will be part of the new Star Bay/Green Hill development, which will also feature a lagoon, beach village, and a range of shops, restaurants and bars. Located along the coast of Dai Beach, the hotel will also include a wedding chapel, fitness centre, kids club, and a 240-seat ballroom.
“Phu Quoc is going through exciting times,” said Leanne Harwood, vice president of operations, southeast Asia, for IHG. “We've seen the positive impact that development of the new international airport has bought, and the upcoming expansion of the cruise terminal will also help drive tourism. The visa-free entry for a series of travellers has also helped growth in visitor arrivals."
