GLL partners with Zurich to get older people active

by Deven Pamben | 30 Dec 2016

Greenwich Leisure Limited (GLL) is partnering Zurich Community Trust to launch a pilot scheme to get more older people active.

The charitable social enterprise will supporting Zurich’s older people’s programme, which aims at tackling isolation and inactivity among older people.

The pilot programme, in Swindon, involves sport and leisure centre apprentices going into care homes and day centres to help run activities like tea dances, walking football and chair-based exercise routines.

GLL is recruiting a project co-ordinator and community manager, which both sit within GLL's sport and communities team.

The recruits will have to connect leisure centres with the older community and ‘break down barriers that they may face to be more active’.

GLL manages more than 250 sport and leisure centres as well as 50 libraries and works with 30 local councils in the UK.
