Four Seasons announces hotels for Seychelles, Tokyo

by Jane Kitchen | 15 Jul 2016

Four Seasons is opening a resort on the remote island of Desroches in the Seychelles as well as a new luxury hotel in the heart of Tokyo’s bustling Otemachi business district.

The Four Seasons Resort Seychelles at Desroches Island is the only resort on the island of Desroches, and is an existing property that will undergo extensive renovations before opening as a Four Seasons in 2017.

Featuring 40 beach suites and 11 private residence villas, the Four Seasons Resort at Desroches Island will be one of the company’s most intimate properties, it said.

Owned by Albwardy Investment, the resort will feature suites with private plunge pools, tropical gardens and outdoor living spaces, as well as an expanded six-suite spa offering locally-inspired treatments and wellness classes.

The island features inland forests with paths for cycling and hiking, and will include a Marine Conservation Discovery Centre and Giant Tortoise Sanctuary.

“This is an exciting opportunity to extend our presence in the Seychelles and build on our successful partnership with Albwardy Investment, the owner of several Four Seasons properties around the world,” said J. Allen Smith, president and CEO, Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts.

Four Seasons has also partnered with Japanese real estate development company Mitsui Fudosan Co. for an all-new hotel in a mixed-use development in Tokyo, which is set to open in 2020.

The 190-bedroom hotel will occupy the upper six floors of a 39-storey office tower, and will blend contemporary and classic design, the company said. It will feature a state-of-the-art spa, fitness centre and indoor pool.

“A landmark hotel in one of the best locations in Tokyo, this will be a striking property that speaks to our confidence in this city as we meet the growing demand of Four Seasons guests and international luxury travellers visiting Tokyo,” said Smith.
