Four Seasons’ Sacred River Spa in Bali relaunching in Q3 following extensive renovation

by Megan Whitby | 22 Apr 2024

The Sacred River Spa at Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan will reopen later this year with an all-new design plus enhanced treatments and experiences inspired by its river valley home.

Nestled amid rich tropical jungle foliage, the riverside spa in Ubud, Indonesia, has been refreshed with a concept inspired by the ancient Balinese philosophy of Niskala (unseen energy).

Speaking to Spa Business, Luisa Anderson, Four Seasons’ regional director of spa, Asia Pacific, revealed just how comprehensive the overhaul has been.

Formerly home to just three spa pavilions, Sacred River Spa will reopen as an all-suite property with seven pavilions, she said. The facility will relaunch with a brand-new reception, retail areas and outdoor relaxation and lounge spaces surrounded by a tranquil lotus pond.

The property will also feature seven newly built Spa Villas, including five couple’s treatment suites. Each will be equipped with Lemi’s Luxury Portofino Evo electric massage beds while one couples’ suite will benefit from the brand’s Water Dream massage beds.

Meanwhile, a hybrid infra-red and Swedish sauna treatment villa by Solace Wellness will include crystal bowls tuned to a frequency of 432 Hz (claimed to promote harmony), while 15 quartz singing bowls and bamboo koshi chimes will set the resonant tone in a dedicated Sound Healing Therapy Room.

Anderson says the spa's grand reopening is expected to take place in July/August, although an official date is yet to be confirmed

Rhythmic river-inspired treatments

Four Seasons says the spa's treatment menu has been updated with a range of new programming designed to align with the rhythmic, rebalancing energy of the nearby Ayung River.

A menu highlight, according to Anderson, will be the Breath of Bali Ritual. The experience will be enhanced with Chakra Ceremonies – one of the most popular experiences on the former menu – and take guests on a transformative journey guided by ancient wisdom.

In addition, the new signature Water Blessings Ritual will combine the essence of water with sacred Balinese practices through a water-bed massage and invigorating Vichy shower.

Meditation and healing experiences will complete the offering, in addition to a schedule of activities hosted by 12 international yoga teachers throughout the year alongside immersive wellbeing retreats by Visiting Masters.

Anderson revealed Sacred River Spa will relaunch with a new collaboration with Synthesis Organics, an Australian product house that offers energy-imbued products.
