First European Peninsula Hotel and Spa to open in August

by Helen Andrews | 14 Apr 2014

The Paris Peninsula Hotel and Spa is expected to open in August this year, only a few paces from the Champs Elysées and l’Arc de Triomphe.

Construction of the first Peninsula hotel on European soil began in 2010 and upon completion, the neoclassical 200-bedroom hotel’s spa will be situated on the first level of the three-floor basement and will cover more than 1,800sq m (19,375sq ft).

Spa consultant Hydroconcept has developed six treatment rooms and two more for couples to accompany the space’s sauna, ice fountain, hammam and whirlpool in addition to separate male and female relaxation areas.

Hong Kong-based artistic consultants Sabrina Fung Fine Arts contributed to the interior design of the spa, which includes luxury linen from RKF and spa treatment beds by Gharieni Group.

There will also be a gym with cardio equipment and weights, plus an indoor swimming pool.

The architect for the hotel is Richard Martinet and interior designers include Hong Kong-based Chhada Siembieda Leung and members of the French Studio Kompa.

The Peninsula will also feature a private smoking room offering a selection of cigars and cocktails to guests, plus a rooftop restaurant and a second main restaurant serving Chinese food.

Katara Hospitality Hotels owns 80 per cent of The Peninsula Paris hotel and the remaining 20 per cent belongs to the Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels group.
