Family-run day spa opens in West Sussex, UK

by Helen Andrews | 11 May 2015

A family-run day spa and fitness centre has recently opened in the centre of seaside town Worthing in West Sussex.

There are five treatment rooms in the spa, one of which is for two people – with contemporary décor. There is a salon with three nail bars and two pedicure stations, as well as a hairdressing zone. Beyond the treatment rooms, there is a spa relaxation room with access to a sauna and hydrotherapy whirlpool. Outside the relaxation room is a seating area for guests to enjoy complimentary herbal teas and fruit juices.

Linda Buckberry told Spa Opportunities about the Beauty Island Sanctuary: “My son’s partner, Ela, has been a beauty therapist for many years, operating a sole trader business from her home. My husband and I decided to set up a company and invest in a business that Ela and my son, Ben, could run together. Ela is the day spa’s manager and Ben is employed as the fully qualified personal fitness trainer. We now have five staff and will soon be employing another beautician.

“The spa is a renovation of an existing shop,” continued Buckberry. “I was a facilities and project manager for 25 years before I retired, so we managed the fit-out in-house.”

Spa products are supplied by Caci, Dermalogica, OPI, Eyelash Emporium, Mii Makeup, XenTan and L’Oréal.

The whirlpool was supplied by Spaworks and the sauna is from Zoki. Gym equipment is supplied by LifeSpan, York FTS, BH Fitness and PowerBlock Sport.
