David Lloyd Clubs launches Spartan classes

by Deven Pamben | 06 Apr 2017

David Lloyd Clubs is partnering with obstacle course race Spartan for the second year running by providing bespoke strength and endurance classes for participants.

The aim of the classes is to build strength and improve agility and stamina – skills that are needed to complete the obstacle race.

A Reebok Spartan Race consists of a 5km ‘sprint’, a 13km ‘super’ and a 20km ‘beast’ course. Each include a series of obstacles designed to test competitor’s mental and physical strength.

Each race includes a junior event (4–14 years of age), ranging from 0.75km to 2km, and featuring up to 14 obstacles.

This year’s races are in Sevenoaks, Kent (8 April), Cheltenham/Bristol, Gloucestershire (20/21 May), Edinburgh (22/23 June), Marston Lodge, Leicestershire (2/3 September) and Windsor (30 September/1 October).

Classes at David Lloyd are available throughout the race season for adults, 11-15 year olds, and families at selected clubs.

Michelle Dand, group health and fitness manager for David Lloyd Clubs, said: “We are thrilled to be part of the revolution and be partnering with Spartan for a second year. Both the Synrgy Spartan training sessions and the races are a fantastic way to challenge friends and colleagues, or enjoy a fun day for all the family.”
