Blue Sky Hospitality designs inferno-themed steakhouse for JW Marriott
An Azerbaijani steakhouse inspired by the myths and legends of fire has opened in Baku’s JW Marriott Absheron.
The Fireworks Urban Kitchen is the creation of Henry Chebaane’s Blue Sky Hospitality studio, which has partnered with the hotel on a number of large-scale interior design projects.
“Our challenge was to create a steakhouse unlike any other in the world,” Chebaane told CLAD. “It had to be instantly recognisable with a strong cultural sense of place, but with a cosmopolitan vibe.”
The blazing interiors were created with glowing metal rods, translucent bricks and wooden blocks, while walnut and oak furnishings and carpentry and floors evoke scorched earth.
Several studio-designed conceptual art works continue the fiery theme. A life-size wild bull cast in shimmering molten bronze guards the entrance, two dragon skulls mount the walls and a luminous red lightning bolt cracks through the ceiling.
Fireworks features an interactive display kitchen, a whisky and brandy library and a wine bar. The outdoor terrace contains large fire bowls, a shisha bar and a DJ booth and connects to a landscaped garden.
“We created an immersive environment to optimise the return on investment through volume and average spend of guests,” said Chebaane. “Customers enter an alternative reality and forget the passing of time while they dine, drink and socialise late into the night."
Blue Sky Hospitality have developed a reputation for their left-field designs, such as this gherkin-inspired bar, bistro and brewery.
