Banyan Tree Group to debut in Spain with Marbella resort and Le Max Club-operated wellness retreat
Hotel and spa operator Banyan Tree Group has signed a deal with La Quinta Real Estate Group to open its first resort and residences in Spain in 2026.
Located in the Mediterranean town of Benahavis near Marbella, Angsana Real de la Quinta Benahavis Marbella will include a 90-key hotel, spa, branded residences, apartments and commercial spaces.
Perched at the top of a hill and nestled inside the 200-hectare Real de La Quinta residential community, the resort will blend into its surroundings and seek to bring the outdoors in.
Resort guests will be able to get their wellness fix at a luxury health facility, managed by Madrid-based boutique spa, wellness and fitness operator Le Max Club.
The modern brand runs a flagship private members club located at the luxury five-star Wellington Hotel & Spa in Madrid.
Le Max Club services include the technical design of facilities, implementation of the Le Max Wellness Club brand and its specialised boutiques, recruitment and training and direction and management of installations.
Architecture and design
Angsana Real de la Quinta’s design – led by OBMI with interiors from MKV Design and landscaping by RSR Studio – will celebrate and foster togetherness among friends and family amid bright, airy interiors.
Composed of clean lines and simple silhouettes, the architecture will incorporate elegant brick wall patterns and stonework referencing local materials and building traditions.
Modern and fluid interior designs, meanwhile, will find cues in the resort’s architecture and honour the sense of retreat into the wooded slopes of the Sierra de las Nieves.
Ample windows will also provide expansive views and an open feel, while social spaces dotted with orange trees and water features will promote social gatherings in a courtyard-style setting that reflects both Angsana’s essence of treasuring each moment and the destination’s Andalusian soul.
In addition to nature-integrated guestrooms and suites circling an oasis courtyard, the resort will feature three dining venues operated by the Azotea Grupo; meeting spaces; a kids’ club; adult and family pools; and a wedding amphitheatre.
To help families with local immersion through on- and off-site activities, Angsana Real de La Quinta will offer moonlit paddles around Real de la Quinta's lake (with a beach area) and nature hikes to explore local flora at wild sites including the neighbouring UNESCO biosphere reserve.
Angsana is one of Banyan Tree Group's ecosystem of 10 global brands, including Banyan Tree, Cassia, Dhawa and Laguna, and the newly-launched brands of Homm, Garrya, Folio, plus two new Banyan Tree brand extensions; Escape and Veya.
Operating over 60 hotels in 17 countries, the hotel group has 47 new properties in the pipeline.
