Stockholm’s Villa Foresta to open Acqua di Foresta Roman bath-inspired spa in Q2
Villa Foresta, a 103-key hotel in Stockholm, Sweden, will open a new spa called Acqua di Foresta in Q2 this year.
The hotel has castle-like architecture and is perched on a cliff on the island of Lidingö, within the inner Stockholm archipelago. It is part of a collection of Stockholm-based hospitality properties known as the Stockholm Meeting Selection (SMS).
The organisation is owned by Torbjörn Blomqvist, who is an entrepreneur with a background in interior design.
SMS says the new 900sq m spa is inspired by Roman bathing culture and spa resort traditions from the early 1900s.
The new name, Acqua di Foresta, means ‘water from the forest’, which Blomqvist believes “evokes associations with purity, nature and tranquillity – exactly what we want to convey in our new spa experience.”
It will have indoor and outdoor pools with sea views as well as a steamroom, infrared sauna and dry sauna. There will also be relaxation rooms with heated loungers and a salt room.
The spa will also feature three treatment rooms for body and facial treatments.
Blomqvist said: “Considering the views and the building we are in, this will be a truly unique spa facility. We are working with two themes: one inspired by the spa resorts that existed around the turn of the century. The other will feel more like a Roman bath, with brickwork and vaulted cellar ceilings.”
A spokesperson for the property told Spa Business: "Guests will be able to choose from a curated selection of spa rituals and packages, from essential to more indulgent experiences. In addition to treatments, the spa will also offer select guided rituals, such as breathing sessions in the salt cave with halotherapy."
