Re-imagined Spa at Ritz-Carlton South Beach debuts new high-tech treatment concept featuring work of Louie Schwartzberg
The 16,000sq ft (1,486sq m) Spa at The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach in Miami has been re-imagined with a fresh redesign, modern fitness facility and destination-inspired therapies.
Located in Miami Beach’s historic Art Deco district, the landmark Art Moderne hotel was originally designed by famed architect Morris Lapidus in 1953.
To celebrate the spa opening, a sage-smudging ceremony was performed to cleanse and purify the spa of its past and welcome in new fresh energy.
The spa includes 14 treatment rooms, relaxation pods, men’s and women’s locker rooms and wet areas, and fitness facility. It also features a new experiential design and treatment concept, the 'Timeless Capsule,' a specialised pod seating area.
The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach is the first hotel in North America to offer the concept, which is designed to accommodate time-restricted guests. The specialised elliptical room includes pod seating featuring a Fusion + Studio stationary massage chair equipped with a Zenvi Sound Cushion, LED chromatherapy lighting, heat therapy, and an iPad with 'Moving Art' meditative journeys by renowned filmmaker Louie Schwartzberg.
Also part of the concept is a ZG Recliner, which uses zero-gravity positioning to create a neutral body position, reducing strain on the hips, neck and back muscles. Relaxation pods are designed to mimic a “cocoon-like" experience for solitude, relaxation and quiet contemplation; each pod features a zero-gravity chair designed to create the feeling of weightlessness.
“Opening our new spa is such a special moment for the hotel,” said Sase Gjorsovski, general manager. “The new space is serene and meditative, offering a true sanctuary for wellness, while the treatments bring to life vibrant Miami flavours in a one-of-a-kind spa journey synonymous with the allure and glamour of South Beach.”
