Revamped ski hotel and spa to reopen in December
Hotel des Dromonts, in the French ski resort of Avoriaz will reopen on 12 December following a €2m (US$2.6m, £1.6m) revamp after becoming part of the luxury Maisons & Hotels Sibuet brand.
The 34-bedroom four-star property was originally designed by Jacques Labro in the 1960s and owned by the Olympic ski champion Jean Vuarnet and Gerard Bremont. Fifty years after first opening, the hotel has been reconfigured and decorated in signature Sibuet style. The revamped hotel will feature two restaurants and a signature Spa Pure Altitude.
The 300sqm (3,229sq ft) spa will comprise three treatment rooms, a hammam, an indoor spa pool, sauna and a relaxation room decorated in locally quarried slate. There will also be a terrace with an outdoor spa pool, providing panoramic mountain views.
Pure Altitude Spa treatments will incorporate Pure Altitude-branded products that use active ingredients from Edelweiss and other mountain minerals.
At an altitude of 1,800m (5,906ft), the hotel is the only hotel in Avoriaz, in the 400sq km (152sq mile) Portes du Soleil ski area. There are more than 296 ski runs, 11 snowparks and 11 boardercross runs on the resort’s doorstep. Avoriaz is also linked with 12 other resorts either side of the Swiss-French border and is an hour from Geneva.
The first of the hotel’s restaurants is a bistro and the second will offer cocktails, sharing plates of Ramon Pena sardines and Iberian ham in addition to classic alpine fondue, tartiflette and raclette dishes. Guests will be able to choose from a selection of local cheeses curated by the hotel’s resident master of cheese, Monsieur Bojon.
