Anaheim's US$4bn ocV!BE project approved by planners

Plans have been approved for the US$4bn ocV!BE project
The development is a 95-acre entertainment district in Anaheim, California, US
It will be anchored by the 18,000-capacity Honda Center
The project is driven by the Samueli family, owners of the Anaheim Ducks franchise

Ambitious plans to create a US$4bn entertainment district in Anaheim, California, US, have been approved by the city's planning commission.

The 95-acre, mixed-use ocV!BE development will be anchored by the Honda Center – the 18,000-capacity indoor arena which is the home of National Hockey League's (NHL) Anaheim Ducks.

ocV!BE is driven by the Samueli family, which owns the Anaheim Ducks franchise.

Set to open in 2024, the new district will feature live entertainment venues, a range of dining units, retail offerings and open areas.

In total, the plans show 20 acres of public space – including a four-acre Wellness Park, four plazas and a five-acre riverfront park.

There will also be a 5,700-capacity concert venue, two hotels with a combined total of 550 rooms and more than 35 restaurant concepts.

The master planning of the project is led by Dan Young, ocV!BE executive director for development.

"Celebrating the diversity of Orange County, ocV!BE will be a one-of-a-kind, mixed-use, master-planned community and entertainment destination that allows residents and guests to create their own experience while offering something for everyone," the Samueli family said.

"ocV!BE is thoughtfully designed and curated to enjoy the best of sports, entertainment, food, hospitality, hybrid and collaborative office, residential, and inclusive public spaces – all connected with an emphasis on walkability and wellness.

"ocV!BE will be a new kind of place, leveraging technology specifically to connect people to community, culture, nature and purposeful living."
