Residents to enjoy $42m of amenities at Bangkok's SCOPE Langsuan tower

Our design for SCOPE Langsuan reflects a Thai attitude of generosity and hospitality in both its materiality and its direct relationship to the surrounding landscape.
– Trent Tesch

Kohn Pedersen Fox (KPF) and Thomas Juul-Hansen have designed a $300m (€270m, £230m) apartment tower for Bangkok, Thailand, that will boast 2,500sq m (27,000sq ft) of entertainment and health amenities for residents.

SCOPE Langsuan, which is scheduled for completion in early 2023, will cover an area of 42,000sq m (452,000sq ft) and rise 34 storeys.

KPF's design for the tower comprises three stepped, vertical elements and draws on "the geometry and rhythm of traditional Thai architecture" to create a sculptural façade and a balance between the classical and the modern.

"Our design for SCOPE Langsuan reflects a Thai attitude of generosity and hospitality in both its materiality and its direct relationship to the surrounding landscape," said Trent Tesch, design principal at KPF.

"The building’s façade, seemingly organic in its nature, features faceted picture windows with optimal city views, while large private balconies, a luxurious outdoor pool deck, and shared rooftop greenspace offer residents indoor-outdoor living and wellness amenities in Bangkok’s city centre."

The tower's 158 residences will boast private elevators, balconies and floor-to-ceiling windows. They will range from 83sq m (893sq ft), one-bedroom apartments up to penthouses ranging from 419-443sq m (4,510-4,768sq ft).

Among the $42m (€38m, £32m) of amenities to which residents will have access will be Italian marble hot- and cold-water springs, rain rooms, Swedish style sauna and steam rooms, private massage rooms and a 30x7m ozone swimming pool with temperature control.

A fitness centre, meanwhile, will feature TechnoGym equipment, a weight training area and an adaptable studio room.

For entertainment, there will be a 25-seat private cinema with a $350,000 (€315,000, £268,000) audio-visual system, a sky lounge and roof garden with views of the city and a barbecue terrace with a private kitchen and dining area.

Other facilities on-site will include a conference room for business meetings, a fitting and grooming atelier, a kids' recreation club and a private storage area.
