WhiteWater nets US$22m South Korea deal
Canada-based WhiteWater West has signed a US$22m (£14m, EUR16.8m) contract with Lotte World for the development of a new waterpark at Kimhae near Busan, South Korea.
It is one of the waterpark industry's largest contracts and will see Whitewater manufacture, engineer and install 100 per cent of the attraction's indoor and outdoor experiences.
Lotte World Waterpark is due to open in May 2013 and will feature rides such as the new Family Rattler and Family Python; the Family Boomerango; an AquaLoop; and the Abyss.
In addition to an array of waterslides, Lotte World Waterpark is to comprise a 115ft (35m) pneumatic Surf Wave pool; a Flow-Rider-Double; and two AquaPlay structures.
WhiteWater will also work to provide custom theming solutions as part of the deal, which will include custom designed Polynesian-themed waterslides, towers and other structures.
"WhiteWater is thrilled to have been chosen as the supplier and manufacturer for Lotte World Waterpark," said WhiteWater chief executive officer Geoff Chutter.
"This project will be a wonderful showcase of WhiteWater's signature attractions and we are proud to be part of such an industry leading project."
