Redesigned FRAC Centre to open in September
The Regional Fund for Contemporary Art in the Centre region (FRAC Centre) will open its doors in a new location in France in September, with a striking public reception piece designed by architects Jakob + MacFarlane.
The Turbulences, the public entrance area, features a cafeteria, bookshop and auditorium. The prefabricated tubular structure is covered in an anodised aluminium casing and will be programmed with lighting displays.
The FRAC Centre will also feature public viewing galleries – both permanent and temporary – as well as a pedagogical workshop, a documentation centre and a garden.
The Centre, based in Orleans, France, brings together contemporary art and experimental architecture, including 15,000 architectural drawings, 800 models and 600 works by artists - accessible to both the public and researchers.
