New facility opens at Wellington college
A dual-use indoor sports complex, which has been designed by Athfield Architects, has been officially unveiled at Scots College in Wellington, New Zealand.
The institution worked in partnership with Cricket Wellington to ensure its Covered Sports Centre meets international standards for cricket, including four sprung practice lanes.
Software to monitor bowling speed has also been installed, while retractable nets will enable the 800sq m (8,611sq ft) TigerTurf surface to be opened up to a wide range of other sports.
The Covered Sports Centre will be used by Scots College for PE classes and team practices, as well as by members of local community groups.
Scots College headmaster Graeme Yule said: "[This facility] really is a showcase of what's possible - all it needs now is people to bring it to life.
"The completion of this new facility is very exciting for both the college and Wellington's wider sporting community."
The building will be officially opened by Don Neely, a New Zealand cricket historian and former player.
