Lowestoft leisure centre goes public

Local residents in Lowestoft, Suffolk, are being invited to put forward their views on plans to redevelop Waterlane Leisure Centre.
A survey being carried out by Waveney District Council from 21 May to 30 June aims to determine what facilities and activities should be included in the two-storey extension to best meet the demands and needs of the local community.
Council representatives will also attend community forum events in Lowestoft on 12 and 26 June to provide copies of the survey, display the proposed plans and answer questions on the project.
Potential improvements could include new fitness, sports, dance, relaxation and play areas, in addition to an enlarged café.
The scheme will also support and complement the development of the new Sixth Form Centre on the adjoining the site.
Vicky Collins, principal service manager for leisure operations and facility development, said: "This is a hugely exciting development and the valued input of or customers will help us to get it absolutely right.
"The potential benefits of an enlarged and redeveloped leisure centre are huge, but we must create an experience that everybody wants to be a part of. It is therefore really important that people tell us what sports and activities would get them through the door, what they feel is currently missing and what changes they would like see."
