Designer picked for Warrior Garden's redesign
Regeneration company Renaissance Southend has unveiled plans for the £1.8m redesign of Warrior Square Gardens, one of few green spaces within central Southend-on-Sea.
The garden is part of the redevelopment of Warrior Square – a major project area in the Central Area Masterplan Development Framework created in collaboration with Southend-on-Sea Borough Council. Plans for the rest of Warrior Square are still under consultation but is likely to include the relocation of the site's swimming pool. Landscape architects Gillespies have developed a series of designs for the one acre garden based on the original Victorian concept and will feature a café, a raised promenade, a play area and new seating.
Funding for the scheme came through the Homes & Communities Agency and Thames Gateway regeneration budget.
