Competition deadline for London's Shoreditch Overground prize is 4 May
A competition has been launched by M-Arch for the creation of a concept for a new leisure building at London’s Shoreditch Overground train station.
M-Arch says the design can be for any type of commercial and flexible leisure space, from a small set of units for single merchants to a big, open space. The aim is to provide a collective space for the growth of the local community.
Entrants can use the feel of the area in their building design, drawing on the Shoreditch trendsetting vibe, mixed with the historic and culturally vibrant Brick Lane area.
Applicants can also provide creative responses to the social gap affecting London, drawing on the surrounding areas and the city's needs to suggest their solution. The design must be feasible, with the possibility of being reused elsewhere in the city.
Entrants must register by May 4, and submit their solutions by May 11. First prize is €1,750, second 2nd is €450 and third is €300. There will also be 10 honourable mentions.
All awarded proposals will be published in architectural magazines and websites and will be hosted in the next international exhibition in London.
All the finalist proposals will be published on www.m-arch.co.uk
