Colston Hall foyer completed
Work on the foyer at the £20.3m Colston Hall music and performance venue in Bristol has been completed.
Main contractors Willmott Dixon handed over the keys to the building to Bristol City Council at a ceremony on 20 April to mark the completion of the work.
The foyer, which features an atrium crossed by bridges at upper floor levels, was designed by architects at Levitt Bernstein Associates. The bridges connect the new foyer with the rear of the existing auditorium and other parts of the historic hall building.
Simon Cook, deputy leader and cabinet member for culture, sport and capital projects at the council, said: "I'm pleased and proud to be part of this prestigious and exciting development. The completion day is one more step to us being able to open the new building.
"Over the next few months, work to kit out the building and add the finishing touches will take place. Members of the public will get their chance to have a sneak preview on 16 May."
When completely finished in September, Colston Hall will boast modern box office facilities, new performance and exhibition spaces, meeting rooms, rehearsal and recording studios, education and workshop areas, two café bars, improved disabled access and conference facilities.
