Amended Falmer plans approved
Amended plans for Brighton and Hove Albion Football Club's (BHAFC) new £65m stadium at Falmer, East Sussex, have been given the green light by local planners.
Brighton and Hove City Council (BHCC) approved revised proposals for the site, which include a complete redesign of the stadium interior and alterations to the roof, as well as plans to deposit excavated chalk onto Village Way South. Work has already got underway on surrounding infrastructure, with Buckingham Group Construction already appointed to develop the 22,500-seat stadium, which has been designed by London-based KSS Architects.
BHCC's decision now means that construction on the stadium itself can now begin, with the venue expected to be completed in time for the 2011-12 season. BHAFC chair, Dick Knight, said: "Planning committee members have certainly got the message about how important the stadium is to the community."
