Redevelopment of Ram Brewery gets approved
Developer Minerva has been given the go-ahead to redevelop Young's Ram Brewery in South London.
The 1.3 million sq ft (120,773sq m) Ram Brewery scheme will combine a 12,204sq m (131,36sq ft) dedicated area for bars, restaurants, retail units and commercial developments. There will also be 2,673sq m (28,771sq ft) for community and leisure uses as well as a micro-brewery and 1,036 apartments. Salmaan Hasan, chief executive of Minerva, said: “I am delighted with the news as it represents a significant milestone for the project. The scheme, which combines important heritage buildings with contemporary urban development, will create a vibrant new destination in Wandsworth."
The scheme was designed by EPR Architects and the planning application was submitted in accordance with masterplanners Montagu Evans. Minerva was granted planning permission by Wandworth Council after pledging an extra £41m to transport improvements in the area. A spokesperson for Minerva said: "Redevelopment of these sites offers an excellent opportunity to reintegrate the town centre and provide the catalyst for regeneration. Once completed the schemes will provide a high quality environment incorporating public squares and riverside frontages. A section 106 agreement will need to be concluded for a package of planning, regeneration and transport benefits.
