Pelli Clarke Pelli-designed arena will bring music and sport to vast Chicago complex

The expansion of North America’s largest convention centre – Chicago’s McCormick Place – has taken another step forward after ground was broken on a new sports and entertainment arena. The architectural team behind director George Lucas’ Museum of Narrative Art have revealed revised renderings of the plans, which have been drawn up to counter a lawsuit filed by green space advocates. George Lucas eyeing up Los Angeles as backup for legacy project

George Lucas has said that his proposed legacy museum to be built on the Chicago lakefront could end up going to Los Angeles, after the project met with opposition from an open space campaign group. George Lucas museum reveals architects for legacy project

George Lucas’ legacy project – the US$300m (€220m, £179m) Lucas Museum of Narrative Art (LMNA) – has revealed that Beijing-based MAD Architects has been selected as principal designer for the project, while Chicago-based Studio Gang will work on the landscape. In addition, VOA Associates, based in Chicago, will serve as the executive architect and lead the implementation of MAD’s design.
