New Harrow football club gets green light

Plans for a £700,000 junior football club pavilion and pitches in north London has been granted planning permission by Harrow Council.
The 380 sq m scheme is a joint venture between Harrow-based Belmont United Football Club and the council, and is part-funded by the FA's Football Foundation. The plans, designed by London-based architects Spacelab, includes changing facilities, physiotherapy rooms, function rooms and catering facilities. There will also be a new 3G all-weather pitch, two 11-a-side pitches for youth under 16 years old, two mini-soccer pitches and a nine-a-side pitch.
Nick Lyons, architect at Spacelab, said it will be starting the tendering process in February 2009. The council owned the site, which has now been split between the football club and developers for the UK's first Hindu school.
Construction on the pavilion is expected to begin in March 2009 and will be completed by the end of 2009.
