Shanti Maurice relaunches 70,000sq ft spa in Mauritius

by Helen Andrews | 27 Oct 2014

The Shanti Maurice Nira Resort in Mauritius has relaunched its 70,000sq ft (6,503sq m) spa, offering a brand new concept – A Journey Around the World Through Wellbeing. The concept includes new product ranges, treatments and packages based on oriental, Indian and ‘Natural-Bio’ themes.

After feedback from clients, requesting more tailor-made spa and wellbeing packages to restore body, mind and soul in a short time, the new worldly concept was created at the 20-treatment room spa. Other features include a 20m (66ft) swimming pool, watsu pool, whirlpool, sauna, hammam, large yoga pavilion, small yoga pavilion, tea room, juice bar and a gym.

The spa is run in-house by operators Nira Hotels & Resorts. The 61-suite property, formerly known as Shanti Ananda, stopped being an Ananda sister property – to the Himalayan Ananda destination spa – when it was relaunched by Nira in 2010.

House products at the spa include Comfort Zone for body and skin treatments, plus LCN for manicures, pedicures and sugar waxing. Other ‘authentic Ayurveda products’ from Kerala, India, will be in use at the spa, according to spa director Barbara Loy.

The property’s architect is Jean Marc Eynaud and its interior design is by Chandu Chhada of Chhada Siembieda & Associates. Bill Bensley Design Studios worked on the landscape design of the property.
