AEG to develop 15,000-seat arena in Brussels
Brussels Expo and AEG Facilities have partnered in a long-term venue services agreement for the new 15,000-seat sports and entertainment venue Brussels National Arena, Palais 12.
Under the agreement, international sports, entertainment and venue organisation AEG facilities will provide comprehensive venue services including exclusive sponsorship and naming rights sales, premium seating sales, event booking and venue operation support.
Designed by Alliage, the venue, which is expected to become the largest arena in Belgium, will be located near the King Baudoin Stadium and will open in June 2013.
Brussels National Arena, Palais 12, will reach the entire Belgian population and will showcase Belgian, French and international artists, sporting events and family shows, as well as other exhibitions and special events.
The new arena will complete the Brussels Expo, which has 12 exhibition halls and attracts more than 3m people annually for a variety of events, conferences, exhibitions and trade fairs.
Jay Marciano, CEO of AEG Europe said: "The Brussels market has a rich tradition of attracting world class events and we look forward to expanding the range of entertainment that we can bring to Belgium and this great, modern arena that will become the 'must play' venue for the region."
When open the arena will play host to Mylene Farmer (November 13, 15, 16, 2013), Robin de Bois, (May 9, 10 2014) and Tokyo Ballet (May 16, 17, 2014) with more events to be announced soon.
